Investigating Data

In Haepapa 26, we have been looking at sorting or categorising data.  We collected some data about all of the children in our class, and have been working on categorising it into different variables.  For instance, some of us looked at using simple categories like boys and girls, some of us decided to get a little more tricky and sort our groups into boys and eye colour and girls and their eye colour.  Some of us even decided we could categorise data into eye colour and handedness.  We learned that sometimes when a data set is not complete we cannot use it.

In pairs, we talked about what we notice.  We thought about questions we could ask or think about? We made some statements about our data.  And checked if we had sorted our data differently to another pair in the class?
